About Origins

Our approach to your care

Origins’ aim is to provide partnership care at the highest level, so that you can relax and enjoy your pregnancy. You will choose one of three specialists as your lead maternity carer (LMC). If your obstetrician is unavailable at any time, you will be seen by one of the other obstetricians within the practice. This system allows continuity of care - an Origins obstetrician will always be available to you, at any time of the day or night.

Your Origins care plan will include antenatal checks, screening and diagnostic tests, birth at National Women's Auckland City Hospital, private midwifery support during labour, anaesthetic and neonatal support, and postnatal midwifery care. From your first booking visit to your six-week postnatal check, we will be with you every step of the way.

Dr Kieran Dempster-Rivett

"To me, the most important aspect of providing care is to take the time to develop an empathy and understanding for my patient and their concerns. This means that when embarking on a course of treatment, we do it as a team, so that women feel supported and well informed in their decision-making."

Kieran Dempster-Rivett grew up in rural New Zealand, graduating from the University of Auckland Medical School in 2008. He completed specialist training in obstetrics and gynaecology at Waikato, Taranaki Base, and Middlemore Hospitals, followed by a fellowship at Christchurch Women's Hospital in gynaecological oncology. Kieran returned to Auckland in 2017 to work as an obstetrician and gynaecologist at Middlemore Hospital where his clinical interests include high-risk obstetrics, oncology, and clinical education.

Kieran works with Origins as a gynaecologist providing care for general gynaecological issues, including the management of menstrual difficulties, colposcopy, vulval disorders, and pre-conceptual counselling.
