About Origins

Our approach to your care

Origins’ aim is to provide partnership care at the highest level, so that you can relax and enjoy your pregnancy. You will choose one of three specialists as your lead maternity carer (LMC). If your obstetrician is unavailable at any time, you will be seen by one of the other obstetricians within the practice. This system allows continuity of care - an Origins obstetrician will always be available to you, at any time of the day or night.

Your Origins care plan will include antenatal checks, screening and diagnostic tests, birth at National Women's Auckland City Hospital, private midwifery support during labour, anaesthetic and neonatal support, and postnatal midwifery care. From your first booking visit to your six-week postnatal check, we will be with you every step of the way.

Dr Kira Brent

Having a baby is an incredibly important life event, and it is a privilege to share this journey with each and every family I care for.

I strive to provide exemplary obstetric care in a kind, empathetic and professional manner. I am committed to keeping you safe, informed and involved throughout.

Having had two children myself, I know that having a familiar face with you who you can trust to make important decisions can make all the difference.

Dr Kira Brent was born and raised in Auckland. She studied medicine at the University of Auckland. After graduating, she worked in Gisborne and the Northern Territory of Australia before returning to Auckland and commencing specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Kira combines private practice with public work as a specialist at National Women's Health, based at Auckland City Hospital and Greenlane Clinical Centre. Her special interests are fertility and assisted reproductive technology, colposcopy and general gynaecology and obstetrics.

She lives with her husband and two young daughters, and when not working loves spending quality time with her family.
